WHY BOTHER
A tradesman needs the phone to ring. A shop needs someone to walk through the door on Saturday morning. Those are not the same website, and most templates are built for neither.
The two things people check before they get in the car are your opening hours and whether parking is a nightmare. Both should be answerable in about two seconds, near the top, on a phone. It is astonishing how often they're buried on a contact page.
Selling online is a different business with different problems: stock, postage, returns, refunds. If that isn't what you want, you shouldn't be sold it. Most independents here need to be found and understood, not to run a warehouse.
A shop people choose over the supermarket is chosen on character. A site assembled from a stock template with a stock photo of someone else's shopfront quietly argues the opposite. Yours should look like the room people actually walk into.

Wondering how it's this much less than the agency down the road? No account managers, no offices, no reselling somebody else's template with your logo dropped in the corner. Every site is written by hand by the person you spoke to on the phone, and you're paying for the build rather than the overhead behind it.
BUILT AROUND HERE
Mostly Bedfordshire firms, with one cookie business in Surrey that belongs here because it's the closest thing we've built to a small independent with a product. Some are live client work, some were built unprompted to show what we'd do. Both are labelled so you know which is which.
AREAS COVERED
We work across Ampthill and the villages that look to it: Maulden, Clophill, Silsoe, Steppingley, Millbrook, Lidlington, Houghton Conquest, Haynes, Gravenhurst, Pulloxhill, Shefford and Woburn. Next door there's Flitwick, north towards the river it's Wootton, and beyond that Bedford.
We're based in Bedford, twenty minutes up the A507, and we'd rather say that plainly than pretend to a local address. For a shop we'll come and see the place, because photographing and writing about a room you've stood in produces a better site than working from a brief.
