Most people ringing about a website have not bought one before, and the trade has a habit of making that feel like your fault. These are the questions that actually come up, answered the way we would answer them on the phone. If yours is not here, ring and ask.

What it costs
How much does a website cost?
Ours start at £500 for a site built and handed over. Most small trade sites land between £500 and £1,500, depending on how many pages there are and whether you need something like online booking. You get the number in writing before any work starts, and it does not move afterwards.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
No. We build the site first and you pay once it is live and you are happy with it. That puts the risk on us rather than on you, which is the way round it ought to be when you have not worked with us before.
What if I don't like it?
Then you do not pay. You see the site at a private preview link while it is being built, so you are telling us what to change as it goes rather than reacting to a finished thing at the end.
If it is still not right and we cannot get it there, you owe nothing and we part on good terms. We would rather that than talk someone into a site they are not happy with.
Why are you cheaper than other web designers?
Because there is less to pay for. No account managers, no offices, and nothing is subcontracted or resold. Every site is written by hand by the person you spoke to on the phone, so you are paying for the build rather than the overhead behind it.
What you are not getting is a cut-down version of the same job. The design, the words, the hosting setup and the search groundwork are all included at every price.
Are there monthly fees?
Only if you want them. The entry option is a one-off build with nothing monthly at all. If you would rather we stayed on to make changes as the business moves, that is from £49 a month, with no contract to sign and no minimum term. The site stays yours either way. How it works
How long does it take to build a website?
Two to three weeks from the first proper conversation to going live, for most small business sites. Bigger builds with booking or payments take longer, and we will say how long when we quote rather than after you have signed.
The main thing that slows a build down is waiting on photos and details, so the sooner you get those to us the sooner it is finished.
Do you write the words as well?
Yes, and it is included in the price. You will not get a site back with grey placeholder text and a note asking you to fill it in. You talk us through the job on the phone, we write it up, and you tell us where we have got it wrong.
Can you rebuild the site I already have?
Usually, and it is most of what we do. Plenty of the work is replacing something built years ago or put together on Wix, Squarespace or GoDaddy. We keep the parts that are working, including your wording where it is good, and rebuild the rest.
If you are not sure a rebuild is what you need, an audit will tell you. Sometimes the answer is three fixes rather than a new site, and we will say so.
Can you look after the hosting and the domain?
Yes, and it is part of the build. We sort the hosting, point the domain, and handle the certificate so the site is not flagged as not secure. The domain is registered in your name, not ours, so you are never locked out of your own address.
What you're left with
Do I actually own the website?
Yes, outright. The domain is registered in your name, the site files are yours, and if you ever want to move it somewhere else you can take it and go. No part of it is rented back to you and there is nothing to buy out.
What happens to my website if I stop working with you?
Nothing. It stays live, it stays yours, and you keep the domain. If you are on a monthly plan and it ends, you stop getting changes made, but the site itself carries on exactly as it is. There is no switch on our end that turns it off.
Will my site come up on Google?
We set it up properly for local search: page titles, structured data, fast loading, and your Google Business Profile pointed at the right pages. That groundwork is included in every build.
What we will not do is promise you a position. Nobody can honestly promise that, and anyone who does is guessing with your money.
Do I need to be in Bedford?
No. We are in Bedford and most of the work is within about half an hour of it, which means we can sit down with you rather than doing everything over email. Further afield works fine, we just do the talking on the phone instead. More on the area we cover.
