AUDITS & REVIEWS

WEBSITE
AUDITS.

Not everyone needs a rebuild. Plenty of sites are three fixes away from working properly, and nobody has ever told the owner which three. We go through yours by hand and write up what we find in plain English. You keep the report whether you use us or not.

WHAT WE CHECK

EVERY PAGE.
BY HAND.

There are free tools that will give you a score out of a hundred and a list of warnings nobody can act on. That is not this. We read the site the way a customer would, then we read it the way a developer would, and we tell you where those two readings disagree.

  1. THE ENQUIRY PATH

Someone lands on your site wanting to hire you. We follow that path end to end: how long it takes to find your number, whether the form works, whether the email actually arrives. Broken contact forms are the single most expensive fault we find, and the owner is almost never the one who notices.

  2. SPEED AND MOBILE

How fast it loads on a phone on mobile data, not on a desktop on fibre. Oversized images, layout that jumps around while it loads, tap targets too small to hit. Measured over several runs, because a single reading tells you about that moment and nothing else.

  3. BEING FOUND

Page titles, headings, structured data, whether Google can crawl the pages that matter, and whether your Google Business Profile points anywhere useful. Also whether you are accidentally competing with yourself across two near-identical pages.

  4. TRUST AND SECURITY

Whether the browser flags your site as not secure, whether your certificate is about to expire, and whether anything on the page quietly undermines you. Old copyright years, dead links, a phone number that no longer connects.

  5. THE WORDS

Whether the site says what you do, where you do it, and why someone should pick you, in the first screen. Most do not. It is the cheapest thing on this list to fix and usually the one that moves the needle furthest.

WHAT WE ACTUALLY FIND

THIRTEEN LOCAL SITES.
155 FAULTS.

Here is the honest version of what that list turns up. These are real findings from thirteen real websites, anonymised. Every one of them was visible from the outside, without a login, and not one of them had shown up as an error message.

WORK THAT NEVER REACHES YOU

  • An enquiry form half moved between two form handling services, three of its four settings still pointing at the old one. It may not have been delivering at all.
  • The email link at the top of every page led to a dead page.
  • A phone number you couldn't tap to ring from a phone, tucked inside the menu.
  • A contact form that turned away normal UK phone numbers as invalid.
  • Both quote forms on one site sat on plain HTTP, so the browser warned "Not secure" while a customer typed their phone number into them.
  • One tap-to-call button dialled a number that appeared nowhere else on the site, and was not written down on any page.
  • Another showed two mobile numbers as plain text on every page, and neither was tappable from a phone.

PEOPLE WHO NEVER FIND YOU

  • The town the business worked in appeared once on the entire site, in the footer, in plain text. Not on the homepage, not on the services page.
  • No descriptions on any of the pages, so Google was left to write its own out of whatever it could scrape. Three of the four sites.
  • Seven pages for seven towns that were 81 per cent the same page as each other.
  • One homepage's main heading was six copies of the words "Learn more". The name of the business was not among them.
  • On one site the town the business works from appears nowhere in the page itself. It is on screen, but inside a box loaded from a different website, so the page a customer is on never says it.
  • Another had no main heading on any of its eight pages, and page titles that read "Intro", "Trade", "Collaboration" and "Definition".
  • One homepage's title in Google began with a stray hyphen, in the space where the name of the business should have been.

PEOPLE WHO FIND YOU AND LEAVE

  • A homepage weighing 15.9MB, sent to phones in full on whatever signal they happened to have.
  • The designer's Lorem ipsum template page still live, and submitted to Google.
  • Nine of twelve named staff sitting behind empty photo frames.
  • A wall of genuine five star reviews, every single one headed "Testimonial 1".
  • One page carried 33 public comments underneath it, adult spam and link spam among them, sitting there for every customer who scrolled.
  • One portfolio site's typeface never loaded at all. It was fetched insecurely, so browsers blocked it, and every visitor for years has read the site in a substitute font the designer never chose.

None of this is the owner's fault. Every one of these sites was built by somebody who was paid to do it, on a platform that let it happen, and then nobody looked again. That is the whole job an audit does.

WHAT YOU GET

A REPORT.
NOT A SALES PITCH.

Every finding is numbered, explained in language you can actually use, and ordered by what it is costing you rather than by how technical it is. No score out of a hundred, no colour-coded dial, nothing you have to take on faith.

If someone else built your site, the report is written so you can forward it to them exactly as it is. Plenty of people do, and that is a perfectly good outcome. We would rather write a report that gets your site fixed by someone else than talk you into a rebuild you did not need.

And if it turns out a rebuild genuinely is the right call, the £95 comes off it.

HOW IT RUNS

THREE STEPS.
NOTHING TO INSTALL.

We do not need access to your site, your hosting or your logins. Everything in the audit is visible from the outside, which is rather the point: it is what your customers can see too.

01

SEND THE LINK

Ring or email us with your web address and anything you already suspect is wrong. That is all we need to start. No forms to fill in and no discovery call.

02

WE GO THROUGH IT

Every page, by hand, on a phone and on a desktop. Findings get checked twice before they go in the report, because an audit that cries wolf is worse than no audit.

03

YOU GET THE REPORT

Inside a week, at a private link, yours to keep and forward. We will walk you through it on the phone if you want, and there is no obligation at the end of it.

Want to see one first? Here is a sample report, written up exactly the way yours would be.

ALSO WORTH A LOOK

THE REST OF IT.
